Good Loss Management/Prevention has quickly become an integral part of doing business. Reasonable efforts to prevent injury to people and loss or damage to equipment, materials and the environment have become necessary not only for the purpose of meeting legal requirements but to keep businesses competitive by avoiding expensive losses. Not all organizations, however, have the resources, financial or other, to require a full time Loss Management professional or department. There may not always be a need to either. The size or type of an operation may only require assistance and/or advice in setting up a program that can be effectively managed and maintained by the current management team with advice, consultation or audit as required. Other organizations that do have a program employing full time personnel may find, from time to time, that they have a need to supplement their existing program with manpower and expertise on a short term basis.
